Anyone can submit an application for visa or residence/work permit. Third country citizens will, however, only be considered for visa if the applicant has a valid permit of stay in Sri Lanka for three months exceeding the date of return from Norway to Sri Lanka.
If you want to travell to Noway
If you intend to stay in Norway/Schengen for less than 90 days to visit friends, family or business and/or for tourist purposes, you are advised to apply for visa. Max period of stay is 90 days
If you intend to stay in Norway for more than 90 days or if you intend to work, you are advised to apply for residence/work permit If you intend to get married to a Norwegian while in Norway, you are advised to apply for a residence/work permit even if your intention is to stay in Norway for less than 90 days
If you are married to a Norwegian and intend to stay in Norway for more than 90 days, you are advised to apply for residence visa / work permit.

| • | entitles the holder to work in Norway. Different rules apply to nationals of different countries and to with people with different occupations residence permits for students |
| • | a foreign national who wishes to study in Norway may be granted a residence permit for this purpose
